A Very Festive Post!

Can you believe 2012 is just around the corner? Last minute gift shoppers need not be reminded. If you still have the time for some jolly new music to add to your playlist today, check out this poorly timed roundup of this year’s holiday highlights.

She & Him‘s holiday LP “A Very Merry She & Him Christmas” is pretty much the essential release this season. Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward’s seasonal offering is a charming collection of lovely old-timey fireside tunes.

Covercentric: Le Kid vs. The Killers

Swedish pop band Le Kid has done a cover of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside”. Imagine an Euro-synth-pop rework with a modern ABBA twist, and you have it – 4 minutes of frothy fun. (via Popjustice)

It’s been a while since I heard their catchy 2009 single “Mercy Mercy”. They do have a knack for bouncy, unadulterated pure pop.

More on Le Kid.

Merry Tunes, Pt. 1

Apparently, there has been an avalanche of new holiday music this year. This post is my attempt to round up all the free nice tunes, but there’s so much I have to split it up in 2 parts. Hopefully, these music selections might soundtrack your holiday break well, or least, make it more bearable.

MUSIC VIDEO ROUNDUP: Lissie, Brandon Flowers & Uffie

Lissie – Everywhere I Go

I first heard of Lissie when “Everywhere I Go” was featured as the swansong of Joss Whedon’s short-lived cult tv show “Dollhouse”. Since then, she certainly has gone far, having released a debut album and found moderate success in the UK. “Everywhere I Go” will now be her next UK single, in the form of a new drummed-up radio-friendly version. It’s like an “AM” companion to the “PM” original one. The gorgeous Marcus-Soderlund video has an elephant follow, um, everywhere she goes. The shot at 2:20 is my favorite. Her album “Catching A Tiger” has some pretty amazing songs, and I love her Stevie-Nicks-esque big pipes. Her “Bad Romance” cover is highly recommended.
